Many people use mobile internet data which is limited and after the users crosses the usage limit, money is deducted from the account of the user which becomes quite more expensive for the user. The user with limited data frequently checks remaining amount of data, in order to avoid the deduction of money from main balance.

#1 Use WiFi Everywhere:- You must try to use WiFi at office, home or anywhere possible , it will help you to switch from mobile data to WiFi. It will result in saving your data. It is widely recommended to use WiFi in order to save the data. Many mobile network providers offer WiFi hotspots, you can use so when are outside, so get benefited by using it.

#2 Set Data Alerts and Limits:- With Android and iOS devices you can find out how much data you have used and it may prove to be useful only if you check your average use. It will better if you set a reminder after specified data limit.

On Android, you can set alerts and limits by heading to Settings > Wireless & Networks and then select Data Usage to check the amount of data you have used. You can also set data limit, it will send you alert after the data limit is exceeded depending upon the limit you have set.

On iPhone, you can check the data usage by heading to Settings > Mobile Data and the scroll down to the bottom to trigger Reset Statistics. So, to reset stats of each month, you will need to set individually via the Reminders App.

#3 Limit The Background Data:- This is also the main reason beyond the data draining, which is background syncing. Like when the Facebook App received update, your device checks to find where there is any new email on your server. Limiting it will not only save your data but also your battery.

On Android, head to Settings > Wireless and Networks > Data Usage and then click on app to to look for “Restrict app background data”

On iPhone, head to Settings > Mobile Data and then you will see the list of apps which are using your mobile data, so switch off the apps which you find unnecessary.

#4 Disable background App Refresh in iPhone:- However, iPhone users can only use this feature by completely switching off background app refresh by heading to Settings > General and scroll down until you see Background App refresh, so switch off the Background App Refresh to avoid refreshing of apps in background.

#5 Compress your data:- There is an app namely Onavo Extend which is available to both Android and iOS. It is meant to compress the data and increase your data plan up to five times. However, it doesn't work with streaming music or video apps, also it won’t work with VOIP apps, however will reduce the data consumed by the loading of images and text. It is available for free on both the major operating systems.
